Her clinical background in Italy includes working at San Raffaele of Monte Compatri, where she managed cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, including patients with heart failure and those recovering from cardiac surgery or interventions. Her work focused on restoring functional capacity, reducing fatigue, and supporting independence. She also gained experience treating patients with metabolic conditions, tailoring rehabilitation to improve endurance, strength, and quality of life.

Alongside her hospital role, she worked in private clinics, where she treated neurological, musculoskeletal, and sports-related conditions, and provided domiciliary care, delivering rehabilitation at home for patients with mobility limitations or complex care needs.

After moving to the UK, she expanded her expertise in private practice, community rehabilitation, social care, and emergency settings. She has specialised in the assessment and treatment of balance and neurological disorders, including:

    • Parkinson’s disease
    • Cerebellar disease
    • Multiple sclerosis
    • Peripheral neuropathies
    • Dementia
    • Vestibular disorders
    • Migraines, headaches, and vertigo

    • Cardiovascular conditions

Her dual expertise in neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and metabolic rehabilitation allows her to treat patients holistically, addressing both primary conditions and secondary complications such as weakness, postural changes, and reduced mobility.

As a certified Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapist (VRT), she provides targeted rehabilitation for dizziness and balance problems. As an AACP member, she also integrates Western Acupuncture into treatment to support pain relief and recovery.

Dr. Formica is guided by a patient-centred approach, tailoring rehabilitation to each person’s goals—whether restoring independence, reducing dizziness, improving cardiovascular fitness, managing pain, or enhancing overall quality of life. Her experience across hospitals, private clinics, community,  domiciliary care and with Virtual Clinics has given her a versatile perspective and the ability to adapt treatment to every setting
