Dr Flaminia Bruno is an expert and compassionate physician specialising in Internal Medicine and Acute Medicine, with special interests in lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, the early diagnosis of potentially serious diseases including cancer, medical education, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and international cooperation.

She studied at La Sapienza University in Italy, graduating with Honours in 2000 and specialising in Internal Medicine with Honours in 2005. She has worked at prestigious teaching hospitals including St George's Hospital, King's College Hospital, and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, alongside collaborating on high-level research in oncological diagnosis. She currently works as an Acute Internal Medicine Consultant at Croydon University Hospital, and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King's College London (KCL) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She holds a PGCert in Medical Education from KCL.

Dr Bruno has a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound: she completed the FUSIC (Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care) course, continues to work with FAMUS (Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound), and set up the POCUS service within the Department of Acute Medicine at King's College Hospital in 2020–2021.

She is also deeply engaged in Lifestyle Medicine, Functional Medicine and Nutritional Therapy: she is CHIP (Complete Health Improvement Program) certified, is training with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), and is a certified Yoga teacher. In Italy, she founded the charity Mingha Africa Onlus, and between 2003 and 2005 led a team of volunteer trainee doctors in Cameroon in collaboration with La Sapienza University, the Italian National Institute of Public Health (ISS), and the Conferenza Episcopale of Rome.

Internal Medicine consultations

Dr Bruno treats both simple and complex health issues holistically, paying special attention to lifestyle and identifying modifiable causes of disease. Conditions treated include (but are not limited to) diabetes, hypertension, thyroid problems, COPD and asthma, headaches, metabolic disorders such as high cholesterol, infections, and the assessment of challenging cases including suspected cancer.

HEAL Programme — Nutritional Therapy & Lifestyle Medicine

Dr Bruno leads M.I.A.L.'s HEAL Programme, offering one-to-one and group-based nutritional and lifestyle medicine consultations and coaching, designed to prevent disease, help reverse certain pathological states, and effectively manage conditions such as obesity and diabetes.
